The most interesting stories are often ones that begin with a disruption of the protagonist’s every day life or circumstances. The real meat of the story is watching the  protagonist navigate this change and, eventually, conquer it. But what perhaps is most interesting is that at the end of the story, if the protagonist has navigated the change successfully, they themselves have undergone a transformation. Is this not God’s utilization for change in our own lives? God is not always the author of our circumstances changing, but when they do he comes to our aid.

For I am the Lord your God

who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;

I will help you.

Jeremiah 41:13 (NIV)

We will face change in our life whether we know God or not, that much is certain. But the wonderful thing about living in relationship with Jesus is that we get to face these changes with Him instead of alone. Not only does God help us through the transition, but He transforms us as we journey through it. Just like a hero in a story, with each change we face, we get one step closer to being the person God has created us to be.
