Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is the day we get to put gratitude into action. The day we get to reflect on all the blessings we have received this year. The day that the thought of those blessings cause such deep gratitude to grow in our hearts that it blooms into thankfulness. The day that this thankfulness blooms so fully and so brightly that we cannot help but act on it. The day that this action is expressed not only in words, but with feast and fellowship. Thanksgiving is the day that the Provider of our many blessings is celebrated and praised. But today is not the only day we get to do these things. For God never takes a day off from loving us, blessing us, encouraging us, and comforting us. No, God is the same every day, so let us not just give thanks today, but let blessing lead to gratitude, gratitude lead to thankfulness, and thankfulness lead to thanksgiving every day.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
