Inspirations on “Gardening” (Part 5)

by Jody Senna

Seedtime and harvest are a promise from God, offering me a preferable future. He gives the guarantee, but it’s up to me if I want to choose to join Him by putting in the time and effort. “Faith that doesn’t involve action is phony” (James 2:17) and won’t yield any of the crops my heart is longing to grow. So I pray, I dig, I plant, I marvel at the miracles of growth, and then it’s as though I can see the Father push His farmer’s hat a bit off His forehead and wipe the sweat off His brow. We talk and laugh about the cute (but annoying bunnies) I chased away earlier that day, we discuss the fantastic flavor of this year’s cucumbers, and then He gives me a high five and says, “Well done!”

That’s all any daughter of the Master Gardener wants to hear.
