Part 1

Our contributor this month, Jane, became a Christian in the Islam nation where she worked through an outreach group inside her hospital accommodation in the early 90’s and, as a result, she wanted to attend or be part of a Christian church. She asked around to see if there was a church nearby and soon found out that there was a church right outside the hospital. But she was still single at the time and single women were not allowed to go out without a couple or a family sponsor. However, by God’s grace and favor, she was able to join and attend the church. In turn, she was able to grow in her relationship with Jesus.

A few years later Jane learned that there were some Asians who had connections with some Americans in the local area. At the time, Americans in general were highly favored in this country. Through these connections copies of  the Bible, Christian tracks, and Daily Bread devotionals were able to come into the country without strict scrutiny. It was amazing how in an Islam country where the Bible is strictly prohibited, God used these Americans to spread His Word.

The Asians who were connected to the Americans were secretly involved in giving dispersing the tracks and copies of the Bible to other various company accommodations.

Several years later, out of concern for Jane, the owner of the hospital and Jane’s boss warned her to stop going out to attend Christian gatherings because they knew the consequences of her being caught by the religious police. Instead, this person allowed her and her church to have their own worship services inside the hospital so that Jane wouldn’t have to leave her female living accommodations every weekend.

Thus, the church where she had been attending had their first worship service inside the hospital. Jane welcomed others from different hospitals and accommodations as well, with the permission of her boss. As a result of this opportunity, she was able to freely share God’s Word with her boss, who became the anonymous protector of the Christians gathering in the hospital.
