Inspirations on Ministry(Part 3)

by Kimberley Sasan

I have been rewarded with three beautiful daughters. Each one is so different from the other. I realized long ago that God hand picked these three just for me, and being their mother is one of my life’s greatest adventures. My first daughter was born in Jacksonville, Florida where we lived for two wonderfully eventful years. So many opportunities came our way while we lived in Florida, and God had brought us to an amazing church family. It was a sweet time refreshing for us.

My ministry continued as I was graciously offered a position at our church, and I was fortunate enough to participate in several different departments during my time there. The most valuable and memorable experiences from that time were the people I worked with and the lessons they taught me. To this day I am impacted by their heart for ministry and the way they built God’s Church with such love and dedication.

Third Significant Moment

One such individual was an amazing children’s ministry director. While I worked under her direction, learning and gleaming everything I could, I had a variety of responsibilities including prepping the classrooms for the multiple weekend services. There were halls lined with these classrooms all colorfully decorated and waiting in anticipation for the hundreds of children that would fill them on Sundays. Each week, snack carts had to be filled, supply cabinets needed to be restocked, art baskets required sorting and cleaning out, and the list goes on.

One ordinary day I was again walking the halls and moving in and out of each classroom attending to the details as I did my weekly prep. I didn’t mind the routine tasks, but on this day I was feeling particularly unseen and unknown. I remember how quiet it was in those halls as I listened to the sound of my shoes defining the obscurity I was feeling with each step. There, in that wing of this huge building, far away from the people working in the offices three floors above me, God met me in a profound way.

I passed in front of a huge window that overlooked a beautiful lake on the property. It flooded me with warm light, and in that moment I knew God knew. Without a word from me, He said, “I see you.” That’s all it took. I was overcome with His love and understood completely the significance of what I was doing. The feelings of obscurity washed away and I wanted to give my very best for God and those He loved. It became so important to me to make sure that every detail was considered, and that I gave my best attention to even the seemingly insignificant. Every bin of animal crackers was placed with care, each drawing page was neatly laid out, nothing went unnoticed, and I never walked those halls the same.

The Bible reminds us that even the smallest star is named by God. He cares more than we can know, and He sees into the depths of our hearts. When this truth becomes a reality in our hearts, everything around us has significance. Giving my best is not what’s required of me but rather, what naturally flows out of me. “Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by it’s name. Because of His great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.” Isaiah 40:26 His power is great and He is incomparably strong, and yet even the most fragile heart He holds with gentleness and care.

I’m so glad that I have allowed God to form me into the BEAUTY He desires me to be, and as I continue on in faith, there’s nothing that can separate me from His love. He has called me, He knows me, and He is with me.
