Inspirations on “Gardening” (Part 3)

by Jody Senna

Gardening is fun, but before I can place my miraculous plants lovingly in the soil, I first need to spend the early weeks of Spring preparing the garden beds. Our Master Gardener gave us a heads-up about this importance when He told us that we must plant them in good soil if we want our crops to produce abundantly. Actually, the healthier the soil is that you use, the fewer bugs you’ll have to fight, and that’s another excellent reason to prepare the ground before planting.

Gardening is fun, but I have to put in some effort to see a good return for my labor. My garden is where I work hard and sweat and get filthy dirty; it’s where I want to yell at the weeds and bugs and pests (aka voles, rabbits, squirrels, and crows), but my garden is also the place of peaceful repose where I hear God’s voice right there amid my beetle battles. It’s a place where the world ceases to press in on me, and I’m able to hear Him whisper in my ear and see Him show off in flourishes of colors as bright as the rainbow!
