Inspirations on “Gardening” (Part 2)
by Jody Senna
Everywhere we look, we can see God’s handiwork and joy with plants, from weeds pushing their way up through cracks in a sidewalk to fields of lavender gracing the countrysides of France. God loves growth, and one of the ways He helps us see His vision for enlargement is with plants. Jesus used the illustration of planting a tiny mustard seed to help us visualize growth:
“Heaven’s Kingdom can be compared to the tiny mustard seed that a man takes and plants in his field. Although the smallest of all seeds, it eventually grows into the greatest of garden plants, becoming a tree for birds to come and build their nests in its branches.”
Some seeds are tiny, but it doesn’t take long before their miraculous green brilliance starts pushing through the dirt. In fact, within two weeks, the shoots have grown enough to start showing off a few tiny leaves. At that point, I transplant them into little pots and allow them to continue growing while still in the warmth of my house and under my watchful eye.
