Inspirations on Creative Arts (Part 1)

THE ART

Every art form is unique not only in the medium used, but also in the way that it is meant to be experienced. Music is designed to be experienced audibly. There is something that happens when musical notes, both vocalized and created by instruments, come together to create a stream that carries the listener away. Visual Art, such as paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations to name a few examples, stops the eye and communicates visually. This Art is designed to communicate something that will in turn carry the viewer away. Performing Arts, in my opinion, is where all the senses are employed to create a shared experience that is at once both immediate and residual. I classify both film and live events as Performing Arts. When you attend a Performing Art, be it a concert, live theater, or even a stage show at a theme park, you are stepping into an experience that has been carefully curated to not only share the heart of the artist that you are seeing, but also to leave you with a shared and individual experience. This is the element of the Performing Arts that absolutely fascinates me. No two people will ever experience an Art form in the same way. Yet when you sit in an audience, everyone there has a shared experience that is simultaneously coupled with a unique individual experience. True magic happens when something awe inspiring or gasp worthy or heavenly occurs. When that happens, almost everyone in the audience has the same experience at the same moment, and it is truly powerful. To me it is a glimpse of how the body of Christ experiences the Presence of God.

We see Him and experience Him together and individually throughout our lives. Yet there are those times when we come together where every soul, every heart, and every mind syncs up to one incredible moment of praise. As a whole being focused on the greatness of Who He is, declaring that He is awesome, Holy, and worthy of all our praise. We all experience that greatness in incredibly individual ways - because He alone knows every thought, every breath, and every beat. of our heart - yet we can experience something incredible all together in unison. When that happens you can’t but help feel enraptured by His presence and caught up into delight and awe of Who He is, and feeling a sense of the purpose of humanity. I believe that Art, in every form, has the potential to touch the Divine creative, and is capable of producing a truly beautiful experience.
